Winners of six vocal music scholarships given jointly by Voices of Canton Inc. and the Women's Committee of Voices of Canton for the 2008-2009 school year were announced by judges Alfred Anderson, Jean Blair and Tim Culver.

Erin Diroll received a $1,000 college scholarship for a graduating high school student studying for a degree in Musical Theatre. Erin will be a freshman at Kent State University this fall. She is the daughter of Debbie Diroll of Jackson Township.

Rachel Morrison received a $1,000 college scholarship for a student studying for degree in vocal music at the undergraduate or graduate level. Attending the University of Akron, Rachel is studying for a Bachelor of Music degree. She is the daughter of Art and Margie Morrison of Canal Fulton..

The Floyd W. Shore scholarship for private vocal lessons to a current member of VOCI -Voices of Canton, the elite choral group at the Cultural Center for the Arts, was awarded to soprano, Aleta Killian.

The Stephen Dannemiller college scholarship of $500 to a student studying for an undergraduate degree in vocal music was given to Rachel Milligan. She will be a junior at Indiana University majoring in Vocal Performance. She is the daughter of Rich and Laura Milligan of Canton.

The Brian Fitzsimmons college scholarship of $500 to an under graduate student participating in vocal music at any Ohio college was awarded to Abigail Krawson. The daughter of Stanley and Saundra Krawson, Abigail will be a senior at Bowling Green State University working toward a degree in Vocal Performance.

Michael Allen received a scholarship for private vocal lessons to an adult who has not pursued a degree in vocal music. He is also a singing member of VOCI -Voices of Canton.

The awards were held Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Cable Recital Hall in the Cultural Center for the Arts.
